Helping Believers Navigate God’s Word with Truth, Wisdom, and Grace
At The Shepherd’s Compass, we believe that God’s Word is the ultimate authority for faith and life. Our mission is to help believers grow in their understanding of Scripture, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and confidently live out their faith in today’s world.
Whether you are a new believer taking your first steps with Christ or a lifelong Christian seeking a deeper understanding of God’s Word, our desire is to walk alongside you by providing biblically faithful teaching, practical discipleship, and Christ-centered encouragement.
Our Story
The Shepherd’s Compass was founded from a deep conviction that every believer should be able to understand God’s Word with confidence and live out their faith with purpose.
Throughout my own journey, I discovered that many Christians genuinely desire to grow spiritually but often feel overwhelmed by difficult passages, uncertain where to begin studying the Bible, or unsure how Scripture applies to everyday life. That realization became the foundation of this ministry.
The Shepherd’s Compass exists to point people back to the unchanging truth of God’s Word. Through verse-by-verse Bible studies, practical teaching, and Christ-centered discipleship, our mission is to help believers grow in biblical knowledge, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and confidently share their faith with others.
Whether you are taking your very first steps as a follower of Christ or have walked with Him for many years, our prayer is that this ministry becomes a trusted companion on your spiritual journey—always pointing you toward Jesus, the true Shepherd who faithfully guides His people.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Psalm 119:105

Why “The Shepherd’s Compass?”
The name The Shepherd’s Compass reflects two powerful biblical truths.
Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd. He faithfully leads, protects, and cares for His people, calling them to follow Him with trust and obedience (John 10:11).
God’s Word is our compass. In a world filled with changing opinions and uncertainty, Scripture provides an unchanging standard that directs our path, reveals God’s truth, and points us toward Christ.
Together, these two images capture the heart of this ministry: following the Good Shepherd by allowing His Word to guide every step of our journey.

Meet the Founder
My name is Steven Leistritz, and I didn’t start The Shepherd’s Compass because I have all the answers. I started it because I know what it’s like to need them.
My life has been marked by seasons of hardship, loss, and God’s incredible faithfulness. I experienced abuse, neglect, and instability as a child before being raised by my aunt and uncle. I served in the United States Marine Corps, spent years leading people in the workplace, and have walked through personal battles with PTSD, physical injuries, drinking, job loss, and seasons where I had no choice but to trust God completely.
Looking back, I can see that God was preparing me every step of the way.
During those difficult seasons, I discovered that Scripture isn’t just something we read on Sundays—it is the foundation that carries us through life’s greatest trials. God’s Word gave me hope when I felt defeated, direction when I was uncertain, and peace when life seemed out of control. That is why I am so passionate about helping others understand the Bible for themselves.
The Shepherd’s Compass exists to point people to Jesus Christ through faithful, Bible-centered teaching that is both understandable and practical. My desire is not simply to share information but to help people grow into mature followers of Christ who know His Word, live it confidently, and disciple others.
Whether you are exploring Christianity, taking your first steps of faith, or have been walking with Christ for many years, my prayer is that this ministry will encourage you, strengthen your faith, and help you discover the life-changing truth found in God’s Word.

What Makes The Shepherd’s Compass Different?
There are many places to find Bible teaching online, but our desire is to provide something deeper than information—we want to cultivate transformation. Every lesson, article, and study is created with one purpose: helping people know Christ by knowing His Word.

Biblical Truth
Every lesson is rooted in Scripture rather than opinion. We believe God’s Word is the final authority for faith, doctrine, and everyday life.

Practical Discipleship
Our goal is to help believers move beyond knowledge into obedience by applying biblical truth to everyday decisions and challenges.

Christ-Centered
Everything we teach ultimately points to Jesus Christ—His Gospel, His grace, His truth, and His call to make disciples.
Walk the Journey With Us
Every believer is on a journey of spiritual growth, and none of us were meant to walk it alone. Whether you’re searching for answers, studying the Bible, or simply seeking encouragement, we invite you to join us as we grow together in the knowledge of Jesus Christ and the truth of His Word.
